Social Security policy changes delayed until April 14

Planned changes from the Social Security Administration (SSA) set to take effect on Monday have now been delayed, the administration says.

The new policy, which would have required many Social Security recipients to verify their identity in person or through the "My Social Security" online portal, will now begin on April 14.

For now, only individuals needing to update direct deposit information or those applying for retirement, survivor, or auxiliary benefits will be required to make an in-person appointment if they cannot complete the process online.
