This month's Connecting the Community charity is Domestic Violence Intervention Services! 

Domestic Violence Intervention Services is the only nonprofit agency in Tulsa and surrounding communities that provides a comprehensive intervention and prevention service to families and individuals. Since 1976, DVIS has been lead by women and supported by volunteers and communal support.

Survivors leaving abusive situations risk everything: their home, their relationships, financial stability...but everyone at DVIS is prepared to support anyone and everyone. This includes safe housing, counseling, legal advocacy, education, outreach, hospital advocacy, childcare, and interventions. Find out more at dvis.org

This month DVIS is hosting "Mutt Strut"! An event For Pet lovers, their families, and four-legged friends!

DVIS Mutt Strutt 2025: Saturday, October 25 at 11 a.m. at the 41st street Plaza on Riverside.

Mutt Strutt is everyone’s favorite pet parade and costume contest that brings awareness and needed supplies to DVIS’s kennel.

A majority of pet owners who enter a domestic violence shelter report that their abuser had already threatened, injured, or killed a family pet.

Many DV survivors feel hesitant to escape because they worry about what will happen to their pets when they leave.

DVIS was the first domestic violence shelter in Oklahoma to include a kennel for dogs and cats,

We do all we can to keep survivors and their beloved pets TOGETHER.

Event is family-friendly and admission is an in-kind donation to our kennel.

Needed items: dog or cat food, treats, toys, flea and tick shampoo, cat litter, harnesses, collars, leashes, stainless steel bowls, grooming tools, beds, and carriers.
