Tulsa Hotel Briefly Evacuated Following Chemical Container Explosion

A person is in the hospital after an over-pressurized chemical container exploded at a Tulsa hotel on Wednesday.

Authorities said the person drove themselves to the hospital.

The Tulsa Fire Department said it happened around 7 p.m. at the Embassy Suites near I-44 and East. 31st Street.

The hotel was briefly evacuated as hazmat investigated the incident. Guests have since been allowed to reenter.

One person told News On 6 that he didn't hear an explosion but he could tell something had happened.

"I felt like I had been swimming and my eyes started kind of feeling like when you get out of the pool," said hotel guest Ritchey Cable. "It wasn't severe but it was enough to get checked out just in case. I didn't know what happened and wanted to be smart,"

TFD says three people were treated at the scene and two others were transported to the hospital.

The condition of the person hospitalized is unknown.
