Tulsa County Jury Acquits Man Accused Of 2019 Shooting

A man who spent 22 years in prison for murder before being found not guilty and released, was found not guilty in a separate shooting case on Friday.

Demarco Carpenter was released from prison in 2016, then arrested in 2019 accused of shooting a man he knew, Sheldon Reed. Reed survived the shooting.

The closing arguments wrapped up Friday evening and the jury found Carpenter not guilty after a few hours of deliberation.

The jury acquitted Carpenter on both counts he was facing, shooting with intent to kill and possession of a firearm as a felon.
