1 Dead After Head-On Crash On Muskogee Turnpike

One person was killed in a head-on collision on the Muskogee Turnpike Thursday afternoon, Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

OHP troopers said one person was killed in the crash that involved three vehicles and a semi.

OHP said a 1999 Ford Explorer was traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of the Muskogee Turnpike near the Broken Arrow Expressway intersection. They said the Explorer struck a 2010 Subaru head-on, pinning the driver in his vehicle and catching the Explorer on fire. Officials said the wrong-way driver was killed in the crash.

OHP said the driver of the Subaru was flown to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Officials said another car and a semi then hit the two vehicles. They said both drivers were uninjured.

Authorities said a call came in around noon about a wrong-way driver before the crash happened.

The ramp from the Broken Arrow Expressway eastbound to the Muskogee Turnpike southbound/eastbound lanes was closed for around two hours Thursday afternoon.

A viewer sent News On 6 a video from the scene near 257th East Avenue, just outside of Broken Arrow.
