An influx of 911 calls have been reported by EMSA during the rolling blackouts in the area.

The calls are mostly from people who rely on powered medical equipment.

Given Tuesday's weather conditions, the call volume is not sustainable, EMSA said.

The company is asking patients to contact their medical provider about a power outage plan for medical devices powered by electricity and refrigerated medicines.

Patients should ask their medical providers how long medications can be stored at higher temperatures and get specific guidance for any medications and machines that are critical for life.

The planned outages are expected to last no more than two hours.

If any patient is experiencing a medical emergency, they should call 911 immediately. EMSA paramedics will respond as quickly and safely as possible.
