Okmulgee Church Replaces Steeple Struck By Lightning In August

An Okmulgee church has a new steeple Tuesday night after its old one was hit by lightning.

Lightning caused a fire at Town and Country Christian Church back in August. Firefighters kept the flames from destroying the building, but the steeple was destroyed.

A crane lifted the church’s brand new, 400-pound and 18-foot-tall steeple into place Tuesday.

The pastor at the church said the congregation is fortunate that insurance paid for the steeple and said it’s a blessing given the challenges of the pandemic.
