Arrests Made After Body Discovered Along Rural Tulsa Road

Tulsa Homicide Detectives are working to learn more about the death of a man whose body was found in a ditch alongside a rural stretch of road Wednesday.

Tulsa Police say someone found the man lying face down Wednesday morning and called 911. Detectives believe the body has been here for the past couple of days.

Police have arrested Lula Harris and Nayda Nieves Irizarry for unauthorized removal of a dead body.

56th street North near Memorial was blocked off for several hours while homicide detectives worked the crime scene.

"My guess though is he probably died somewhere else and then was dumped here but we are very, very early in the investigation so it is conceivable it could be an auto-ped right now, we just have to wait for the Medical Examiner," said Tulsa Homicide Sargent Brandon Watkins.

Investigators say they have identified the man but won't be releasing his name until his family is notified.
