Mize is on trial for manslaughter after prosecutors say he shot and killed a 15-year-old boy who was stealing fireworks from Mize's business.

Prosecutors finished Thursday by showing the jurors the taped interview Mize did with deputies just hours after he shot and killed 15-year-old Jake Ulrich. In the video, Mize said he was scared when he thought he heard gunshots as he chased after Ulrich and his cousin, who were making off with Mize’s most expensive case of fireworks.

Mize told police he chambered a bullet and blind-fired, not aiming at any one thing. But police question his story when Mize told them he got inside the getaway truck after Ulrich's cousin bailed out and ran off but failed to notice Ulrich's bleeding body in the passenger seat.

Mize's brother Michael took the stand Thursday in his brother's defense, saying he knows for sure that the first shot fired came from inside Ulrich's truck and that's why his brother fired back.

Mize's defense will continue Friday, but we don't know yet for sure if he'll take the stand himself.
