‘Run the Rock 2020'

Dwayne Johnson for President?  Committee to Draft Star

Federal Election Commission records show that a campaign committee has been formally filed to draft Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as a presidential candidate in 2020.

The organization, named “Run The Rock,” was filed on Johnson’s behalf by a West Virginia resident named Kenton Tilford. The filing comes almost two months after Johnson hosted the season finale of “Saturday Night Live,” and jokingly announced his 2020 candidacy during his opening monologue, He also said Tom Hanks would be his running mate.

Before that “SNL” appearance, The Rock said in an interview with GQ that running for president could be a “real possibility” and that he seriously gave it thought after Donald Trump won last year’s election.

He said, “I started to really think. Could I make a difference? Could I surround myself with really brilliant people to help me make decisions? Do I care about this country? And when the answers continued to come up yes, then I thought, there’s a good chance.”
