Big Arms
– Wish you had Madonna’s exceptionally-toned biceps, shoulders and triceps? If hitting the gym isn’t in the picture, then hide ‘em! Here is some advice on what and what NOT to wear.
Look for three-quarter sleeves in a t-shirt made from a fabric that doesn’t cling.
Wear fluted sleeves. The wider the cuff and flute, the thinner the upper arm will appear.
Wear light-weight patterns, but make sure to choose a small to medium print.
Accessorize with bracelets! Select the thinnest feminine chain or charm bracelet, which will make your whole arm look more delicate.
Don’t wear tops with elastic band in the sleeves, especially sleeves shorter than three-quarter length.
Don’t wear sleeveless tops, halter necks and strapless dresses or ones with spaghetti straps. These styles create narrow necklines and make your arms look huge.
Don’t wear t-shirts with tiny cap sleeves. The sleeve ends just over the shoulder which exposes the worst part of everybody’s arms – the soft underbelly of the tricep. Unless you’re five years old, this style is unlikely to flatter you.
Don’t wear chunky bracelets! Even though they are in style, they’ll make your arms look even bigger.
Bottom Heavy
– A little junk-in-the-trunk is great, but here are some tips to help you make the most of what you’ve got!
Look for swinging palazzo pants – widest at the bottom, slimming as the eye moves up. This style will balance the bottom of your pants against the width at the top of the pant, creating an inverted triangle on the lower part of your figure.
Choose jeans in a flared or boot cut, which replicate the inverted triangle below the hips. Make those jeans work for you!
A-line skirts get an ‘A’ for Absolutely Fabulous! This style is smashing on you because it starts at your slimmest point, the waist, and skims past the hips and thighs. Plus, the A-line flare minimizes legs.
The skinny on slim skirts is… Do it! But remember not to do clingy fabrics. You want to fool the eye into seeing a long, lean line by using one color and slim pieces.
If you’re buying a jacket as well, choose styles that nip in at the waist. One that has some detail, like a small puffed sleeve along the top, will help elongate your shoulder width to balance your hips.
Swimsuit 101: Hid your imperfections with a skirt bottom. This cut evens out the sides of your hips and covers up any fat bulges under your bottom and at the top of the thigh. It’s very trendy as well, so it doesn’t look like you’re trying to hide anything. Avoid cuts that stop in the center of your hips and make them look wider.
Busty
– Just because you’re built like a ‘brick house’ doesn’t mean you have to look like one! These tips will help you make the most of your gorgeous curves.
Bra Basics – Yes, they really do matter! The right bra will do wonders for your posture and eliminate unsightly bulges, as well as shape and define your breasts. When you wear the wrong-sized bra, NOTHING you put on is going to look quite right.
Scrap the spaghetti straps! This style will not work for you – it makes it hard to wear the right bra and makes a big bust look bigger.
The scoop on necklines: Low-scoop, sweetheart and V necks are all winning styles for you. A low-scoop creates space on the chest that must be filled, which you can obviously do, and the V-neck is your money shirt! The V-neckline pulls the eye down the center of the body and with the right bra, you can show off some amazing cleavage.
Avoid bulky knits. If you must wear a sweater, make sure it’s a thin material and wraps around the waist.
A busty girl’s best friend Without a doubt, it’s the wrap dress. It creates the V shape you want to separate and define your breasts and it makes it easy to show off your nipped-in waist, which will look tinier in the shadow of your ample cleavage.
If you’re busty
and
thicker in the waist, go for a scoop or sweetheart neckline with an empire cut and three-quarter-length sleeves. It’ll make the best of your top while skimming your middle.
Keep prints small and simple.
Stick to coats and jackets that are fitted around the waist and have small lapels and V-necks. Monotone colors are best in any color you like – don’t be afraid to break the basic-black rut! DO NOT get anything double-breasted or with a tight funnel neck. If you must button your jacket, go for a long length, at least to your hip, and a single button that attaches right around your belly button.
Avoid turtlenecks, cowl-necks and dolman-sleeve tops, all of which weight your bustline down.
V is victorious with accessories too! Instead of a simple round chain that won’t enhance your assets, look for lockets or charm necklaces that create a V to draw the eye down. But be mindful of length – it should stop about where your cleavage begins. Pair this with an eye-popping wrap top for a hot night out on the town!
Swimsuit 101: Try a one-piece in bright solid colors with a built-in bra with separate cups. One-piece suits also minimize the chest. You’ll still have cleavage, but with a little support.
Small Bust
– The best things come in small packages, as there are a lot of choices out there for you! These tips will help you accentuate what you DO have.
Do go for full-front halter necks with cutout shoulders. This is your knockout look, and the fact that you can go without a bra means you can really rock this look.
Avoid deep V-necks and low-scoop necks that highlight what you don’t have.
Ruffles: Ravishing or Ruinous It depends. A well-placed ruffle can work wonders, but make sure you’re wearing the ruffle – don’t let it wear you! Put the ruffle where you want to create the illusion of heft: around your chest. If the detail is on your sleeves or neck, the contrasting area just looks concave.
The best dresses for you are going to have two things: a great cut and some kind of surprise detail that adds sexiness without emphasizing cleavage. High-nick, preferably sleeveless, and a shiny, sensuous material will rock the red carpet! Show skin where you can – shoulders, arms, back. Find a dress that highlights what you think is your best feature. If you’re really brave at heart, go for a super-sexy plunging neckline down to your navel. If you are blesses with a great body, then make it backless. Let your cleavage take a backseat by bringing the focus to the part of your body you like best! As a wise woman once said… Accentuate the Positive, Eliminate the Negative!
The #1 common mistake for small busts: low, wide scoop necks! This cut just emphasizes what isn’t there.
Swimsuit 101: Avoid swimsuits in solid colors with no padding. If you’re small, you can get away with strapless tops and patterned suits with a push-up bra.
