US Attorney General Garland Visits Tulsa Ahead Of OKC Bombing Remembrance Ceremony Keynote Speech

United States Attorney General Merrick Garland visited a Tulsa church and toured the Greenwood District on Sunday. The Attorney General will speak in Oklahoma City on Monday at a ceremony in remembrance of the 26th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing.

Reverend Robert Turner of Tulsa’s historic Vernon AME Church said Garland was an attendee for Sunday’s church service and baptism ceremony. After church, Turner said they toured the Greenwood District.

Parts of downtown were temporarily blocked off while the visit was happening.

After his stop in Tulsa, Attorney General Garland headed south to Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City National Memorial released a video on Twitter of Garland surveying the outdoor area of the memorial ahead of his speech on Monday.

Garland played a significant role in the investigation of the bombing, later overseeing the prosecution and eventual conviction of Timothy McVeigh. Garland is expected to speak at 8:45 a.m. on Monday.
