Oklahoma National Guardsman Honored For Stopping Knife Attack

An Oklahoma National Guardsman received one of the state’s highest honors for saving his neighbor by jumping between her and a man with a knife.

Sergeant Pedro Gonzales was at a neighbor’s house when a burglar came through the door, grabbed a knife and started stabbing her. Sgt. Gonzales put himself between her and the attacker so she could escape.

He had serious wounds to his face and neck but has recovered.

Sgt. Gonzales received the Oklahoma Star of Valor Thursday.
