Cellulite sucks.. These tips can help
We love when celebrities reveal that they're not the perfect creatures we make them out to be—which is exactly what Malin Akerman did while promoting her new sitcom, Trophy Wife.
The actress looked totally gorgeous and glowing, post-baby, in her Alexander Wang black and white sleeveless mini dres, yet told Us Weekly, "You haven't seen the cellulite on my ass and my stomach. Oh I'm telling you!"
If there's one thing we can relate to, it's how annoying cellulite can be and how hard it is to get rid of it.
Obviously we know there isn't a cure for it, but with the proper diet and regular exercise, you can lessen the look of it. Turns out the right application of cellulite-targeting creams can also help make a difference in the appearance of orange-peel textured skin.
What techniques are we talking about? Clarins, Bliss, and Vichy all seem to have a similar take on applying these types of creams to make them more efficacious:
1. Take a generous amount of the cream and quickly spread the formula on using both hands for 20 to 30 seconds, starting from the knee towards the hip and over the buttocks.
2. Continue with slow, big kneading movements, alternating between the two hands, while moving the fingers simultaneously to treat all the target zones. This continued motion helps stimulate lymphatic drainage. Once these pockets of fluid are drained, the dimpling is less prominent. Um, swimsuit season here we come!
For cellulite on your butt, hips, and thighs, apply any of these cellulite creams twice a day using the method above.
If you struggle with dimples on your stomach only, Vichy makes a formula specifically for that stubborn spot: Destock Stomach Firming and Refining Treatment, $38, vichyusa.com, which uses five percent pure caffeine and firming peptides that help improve microcirculation and firm and refine your skin in that area. But the cool thing about this product is that its packaging includes seven exercises that help target cellulite. Clinical studies were done on 50 women that revealed that their skin's firmness after four weeks of only working out was up 10 percent, but when they used the Destock stomach, it increased to 17 percent. So, Cosmo girls, if you're a fan of cellulite creams, will you be applying them this way forever more?
