Looking for a job? Here are some tips to help you through the tedious task of interviewing:
PRE-INTERVIEW
1.
Perfect your resume. You should double and triple check that there are no typos and that you have extra copies available to give to multiple interviewers. It helps to have several sets of eyes review it for grammar, punctuation, typos, etc.
2.
Be mentally prepared. Do you know what questions to expect? Are you familiar with the company with which you are interviewing? Have you thought about the tough questions they’ll ask and prepared strong answers in advance?

3.
Keep up on industry news. The best way to impress an interviewer is to go in armed to discuss topical things happening in the industry right now.
4.
DRESS FOR SUCCESS! If you want the job, you need to look the part. And this doesn’t include jeans, flip flips, tank tops, cargo pants or t-shirts. Ever heard the cliché ‘you never get a second chance to make a first impression’? It’s cliché for a reason-it is true.

INTERVIEW
1. BE ON TIME.
2. Don’t forget your resume.
3. Turn off your cell phone.
4. Don’t bring a friend to your interview.
5. Speak positively about your previous employer.
6. Never assume or discuss what an organization can do for you, but rather discuss what you can offer the organization.
7. Do not bring the following items to your interview: gum, iPod, coffee or soda. If you have lots of piercings, leave some of your rings at home. If you have tattoos, cover them.
POST-INTERVIEW
1. Send a thank you note. A thank you email or note card needs to be sent right after the interview, ideally within 24 hours, and make sure to keep it brief and professional. (It also needs to be error-free!)
2. Be mindful how you follow up. Give the employer one week before checking in with them. DO NOT CALL. Calling, in general, is more evasive.
