Route 66 Marathon

WHERE  ·  varies WHEN  ·  Sunday, November 22, 2009 TIME  ·  varies The Route 66 Marathon announces new courses for 2009! For the first time since the Inaugural Route 66 Marathon in 2006 we will be going back downtown. The Route 66 Marathon will still start and finish at Veteran's Park but participants will head North and follow last years course in the opposite direction for the first 4.2 miles before heading back to 21st, past Veteran's Park, across the 21st Street Bridge and on to the Mother Road. Participants will proceed down historic Route 66 past the Cyrus Avery Centennial Plaza, under the sky bridge and in to downtown Tulsa. There is plenty to see in miles 8 through 13 through downtown Tulsa. The new course passes the new BOk Center, the legendary Cain's Ballroom, Oneok Field which will be near completion, the new City Hall, Blue Dome District and Pearl District before heading back to Route 66 and on to Riverside Drive. The course continues South on Riverside Drive where runners will see the newly updated River Parks. Participants will turn around at 76th and Riverside and head back to the finish line at Veteran's Park. The Half Marathon follows the same course except participants will turn right at 7th and Denver and head back to Riverside Drive where they will continue to 29th Street before heading back to the finish at Veteran's Park.
